The Light on Your Face

Anonymous
charred sunsets – sights scarred
horizon tattooed eyelids
my eyes burn raw with
your tears, your blood in my veins;
so we scorch our pains with mirth

last night I saw god’s
bodies littering the sky,
the old – burns anew,
the old burns – a new struggle
we spite those lies we were taught

until we spit them
words gushing warm iron, spit
bitter everythings
but none of that matters here
the only matters here are

the light on your face;
j.cole mutters from my car;
no role modelz to '
speak of cuz greg and rodrick
peter and fudge lied to us

but we love, so we
hurt; and we hurt till we’re loved;
beat our hearts into
submission, cuz, we’re worth
being bold; we spite those lies we hold
