Sensory Sound

Ruby Meyers '26
The sound of soft wind howling through a space,
Created by the absence of the leaves,
Leaves echoes in my ears I’ve tried to trace
To my serene heart as it softly grieves.

The rustling feathers murmur in the sky,
And might supply the gentle thoughts of love.
Sleep brings the calm of silence to the eye,
While lavender’s scent circles up above.

But clamor and aggressive dins ensue,
with trampling feet that disturb the sound.
Like when at dawn a rooster wakes its hen,
Cacophonies of noise will then abound.

This wakening of hectic laughs and cries
Ends my thoughts of bliss with a loud surprise.
